Company Information: The Department of Pediatrics together with the Quantitative Sciences Unit (QSU) in the Department of Medicine’s Center for Biomedical Informatics Research at Stanford University School of Medicine seeks a biostatistician to join its faculty at the Assistant or Associate rank in the Non-Tenure Research Line.

Position Title: Assistant or Associate Profess or None-Tenure Line (Research), Quantitative Sciences Unit

Duties and Responsibilities: Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a related field and an outstanding record doing collaborative biostatistics, with an emphasis in applications that may include child health, nephrology, endocrinology, pediatric medicine, oncology, cardiovascular medicine, preventive medicine and public health, to name a few. Areas of methodological expertise may include statistical genetics, genomics, epidemiology, prediction modeling, survival analysis, trial design, causal inference, computational biology, bioinformatics and clinical informatics.

Position Qualifications: We expect the successful candidate to engage primarily in collaborative research and to develop an independent research agenda in the development of methods directly stemming from collaborative work. Specifically, the candidate will help to build research infrastructure in the Department of Pediatrics, and will serve as the leading statistician on a number of studies initiated by investigators in Pediatrics, which will involve mentoring junior data scientists in team science as well as clinical and translational investigators in research methods. The candidate is expected to identify and resolve methodological issues that arise in collaborative research, as an expectation is to develop a research program in methodological areas that will directly benefit the candidate’s collaborative research. The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of potential to obtain peer reviewed research funding, excellence in collaborative biostatistics, teaching, and mentoring appropriate to the programmatic needs of the QSU. The appointment will be at the Assistant or Associate Professor academic rank within the Non-Tenure Line (Research).

• The major criterion for appointment for faculty in the Non-tenure Line (Research) is evidence of high-level performance as a researcher for whose special knowledge a programmatic need exists.
