The Department of Population Health of NYU School of Medicine comprises six core areas of research focus: healthful behavior change, comparative effectiveness and decision science, behavioral economics and health policy, epidemiology, biostatistics, and medical ethics. The Division of Biostatistics contributes to scientific advances that benefit human health through innovations in methodology, theory, and application of biostatistical methods across the entire spectrum of biomedical research.

Position Title: Research Scientist

Duties and Responsibilities: The Research Scientist will work closely with Biostatistics faculty and clinical investigators on statistical methods and applications in the area of child psychiatry. The Research Scientist will work with research groups in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry on study design, protocol development, statistical analysis, data interpretation, and manuscript preparation. The successful candidate will:
* Be responsible for developing, maintaining and monitoring new/existing databases, resolving database issues that may be complex, optimizing performance for data extraction and analyses;
* Develop, communicate, and carry out procedures designed to facilitate data analyses and interpretation;
* Engage in data checking, summary, and manipulation in consultation with data managers, principal investigators, and biostatisticians;
* Program statistical analyses, summarize results, conduct simulations, perform biostatistical literature review, and assist PIs in their everyday work;
* Consult with and train researchers in the use of R, SAS and other statistical software as well as statistical methodology;
* Write statistical reports for clinical studies and manuscripts;
* Collaborate with investigators on study design and statistical plans for grants and pilot studies through federally funded grants.

Position Qualifications: Candidates must possess a master’s or doctoral degree in statistics, biostatistics, or related quantitative area. Qualified candidates must demonstrate proficiency in statistical methods for clinical trials, longitudinal and multivariate data, survival data analysis, weighted analyses, and high-dimensional data analysis. Strong computational skills (i.e., proficiency in SAS, R, and/or Stata) are required. Candidates should have strong motivation and dependability, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, a commitment to collaborative team science, a high level of organization, and effective oral and written communication skills.

Salary Range: Salary commensurate with degree and experience.
