The Department of Genetics and Genomic Sciences conducts basic research, trains fellows, and educates the next generation of doctors and genetic counselors. We are the home of Mount Sinai’s state-of-the-art genetic testing lab and medical genetics clinic.

Position Title: Postdoctoral Fellow in Computational and Statistical Genetics

Duties and Responsibilities: The Raj Laboratory at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is seeking a computational postdoctoral research fellow to work on projects in computational genetics and functional genomics. The qualified candidate should be an independent, motivated, creative and enthusiastic individual with a background in statistical genetics, computational biology, or other relevant quantitative disciplines. He or she should have experience analyzing large-scale ‘omics datasets derived from high-throughput sequencing technologies. A good understanding of genetics is required. You must be able to interact with experts in other disciplines such as neuroscience, molecular biology and clinical sciences.

Position Qualifications: •PhD in bioinformatics, computer science, computational biology, physics, mathematics, statistical genetics or relevant field.
•Demonstrated previous research experience through at least one first-author publication in a reputable journal.
•Strong quantitative skills including proficiency in scripting (perl/python) and statistical analysis (R). Programming (C/C++) experience a plus.
•Comfortable handling up to 1TB of data.
