Position Title: ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR IN BIOSTATISTICS

Duties and Responsibilities: Northwestern University’s Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center (RHLCCC) and the Department of Preventive Medicine in the Feinberg School of Medicine seek a highly qualified applicant in Biostatistics at the Associate Professor level. Appointment to either the Investigator (tenure-eligible) or Team Science (non-tenure eligible) faculty track can be considered. Primary responsibilities include biostatistics collaboration and related methodological development with Cancer Center investigators in the basic, clinical and population sciences. The RHLCCC, with 8 research programs and 14 shared resources, is a national leader in scientific discovery, advancement of medical knowledge and delivery of state-of-the-art cancer care. This position would include affiliation with the Center’s Quantitative Data Sciences Core (QDSC), the central resource for biostatistics, bioinformatics and clinical informatics support for the cancer research community. Strength of expertise is sought for all phases of cancer clinical trials that span a range of complexity in terms of design, implementation and analysis. The position will include participation in protocol development, protocol review, data monitoring review and cancer-related educational initiatives. Applicants with an interest in conducting research in related areas of statistical methodology (for example targeted therapeutics, radiomics, integration of multiple data sources) with a track record of cancer related collaborations are encouraged to apply. Opportunities for potential management responsibilities within QDSC exist. There is an expectation that faculty will teach in the departmental graduate programs.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Biostatistics or Statistics, with evidence of scientific productivity from biostatistical collaboration and statistical methodology development with cancer researchers. Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of multidisciplinary teams are essential. Academic appointments will be in the Department of Preventive Medicine, Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. The Department has a Division of Biostatistics consisting of 15 faculty biostatisticians who provide a collegial biostatistical environment, with a departmental history of mentoring junior and mid-level faculty biostatisticians. Salary and benefits package is competitive and commensurate. Proposed start date for the position is September 2017; however, this is flexible and the position will remain open until filled.
