Duties and Responsibilities: The Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at the Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University invites applications for one postdoctoral fellow under the supervision of Drs. Howard Chang and Lance Waller. The successful candidate will develop and apply novel spatio-temporal statistical methods for infectious disease surveillance. Specifically, the project aims to provide statistical methods and tools for reducing spatial uncertainty in disease measures by leveraging data across diverse surveillance systems and across multiple diseases. With guidance from US collaborators and the China CDC, methods will be applied to four infectious diseases of global importance: tuberculosis, malaria, schistosomiasis and hookworm. The candidate will join an interdisciplinary research team focused on spatio-temporal biostatistics and has opportunities to collaborate with other researchers in environmental health, disease ecology, and spatial epidemiology. Publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at scientific meetings are expected.
