Position Title: Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Duties and Responsibilities: We are recruiting a postdoctoral research fellow for statistical and computational methods for big data in healthcare systems, with applications to disease prevention and evidence-based medicine. The fellow is expected to develop novel methods in areas such as missing data, measurement errors, dynamic risk prediction, data/evidence integration, and statistical learning, that are motivated from massive healthcare data (e.g., electronic health record data, national pharmacovigilance data, clinical trial data from distributed research networks). The position will join the research group of Dr. Yong Chen, and the fellow is expected to collaborate with investigators within and beyond Penn School of Medicine.

Examples of application areas include (but are not limited to): (1) Dynamic risk prediction models using VAERS (Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System) data; (2) Methods to account for information bias and/or missing data in electronic health record data; (3) Integration of healthcare data to inform personalized medical decision-making using PEDSnet data (https://pedsnet.org/).

Position Qualifications: Doctoral degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field. Strong theoretical training in statistics and computing (R and C) are desired. Excellent communication skills and good track record of writing scientific papers. Experience in statistical theory and methods development (e.g., missing data, measurement error, statistical inference), statistical learning, and comparative effectiveness research is preferred. The position is available immediately and for up to three years.
