Position Title: Postdoctoral Associate
Duties and Responsibilities: We are seeking a motivated and creative applicant with quantitative research backgrounds to join an active and collegial research team led by Dr. Wei Chen. The work will involve developing statistical and computational methods for analyzing and integrating high-throughput omics data (e.g. RNA-seq, single cell RNA-seq, DNA methylation, and ATAC-seq) and leading statistical analysis for understanding the genetics and genomics of complex diseases. The postdoc will also have opportunities to collaborate with other researchers from world-class Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC and the Department of Human Genetics and Biostatistics at the Graduate School of Public Health. Together with world-class physician scientist, Dr. Wei Chen will mentor the postdoc and provide highly supportive and dynamic environments to help the candidate in the transition to an independent faculty. The selected post-doctoral fellow will have opportunities to write internal/external grants and become a faculty member in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh, following successful completion of his/her training.
Position Qualifications: The applicant should have a Ph.D. degree in one of following areas: Statistics, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Computational Biology, or other disciplines with strong quantitative backgrounds. Programming experience in statistical program R and scripting languages such as Perl/Python on Unix/Linux systems is required. Experience in C/C++ is a strong plus.
Salary Range: NIH guideline or higher upon experience
