Position Title: Statistical Analyst/Programmer

Duties and Responsibilities: The Statistical Analyst/Programmer for the Temple University School of Medicine will provide programming, statistical, and educational support to faculty and trainees under the general direction of the Department Chair and Statistical faculty. Primary responsibilities will be to assist in planning, implementation, coordination, operation, and evaluation of the study protocols for collecting data; develop, design, and test data collection tools, such as paper surveys and database entry systems using programs such as MS Access and Epilnfo; work with large datasets to combine and transform data into analytical databases; develop and implement standardized quality and logic checks to validate data accuracy; and assist with correcting data errors, and maintain documentation in a database for easy referencing and to ensure consistency in the decision-making process. In addition, the Statistical Analyst/Programmer will analyze research objectives, provide program specifications, and develop or modify programs with a major emphasis on statistical analysis techniques; perform descriptive and inferential statistical analyses on research data for faculty and trainees as directed by supervisor, interpret results, and provide written summaries of data analyses; meet with trainees to provide advice related to complex data preparation and management needs, programs design and testing; conduct basic statistical analyses; and offer solutions and suggestions to provide optimum efficiency and cost effectiveness specific to study implementation. Other responsibilities will be to assist with development of short-course and workshop materials to augment educational offerings specific to introductory biostatistics and statistical programming; with faculty oversight, teach SAS programming skills in short-course and workshop venues to junior investigators and trainees; provide technical support to department faculty, staff and students including hardware and software issues; and perform other statistical support-related duties, including presentation of seminars, courses, and instruction on computer services. Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications: Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline such as Statistics or Biostatistics and at least three years of related experience with statistical analysis and/or statistical programming in SAS. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities:
*Demonstrated ability to make independent judgments and decisions.
*Demonstrated verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills.
*Demonstrated computer skills in MS Office and related software.
*Must be able to work independently and in a team environment while handling diverse tasks in a fast-paced atmosphere.
*Must be highly organized with strong detail orientation, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects.

Preferred:
*Master’s degree in Statistics, Biostatistics or another related field.
*In addition to SAS, experience with SUDAAN, R, other statistical packages, and MS Access.

Salary Range: Salary will be commensurate with experience.
