Postdoctoral Fellowships
Biostatistics Branch

Company Information: The Biostatistics Branch (BB) is an intramural research program within the Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics (DCEG) at the National Cancer Institute (NCI). BB statisticians develop statistical research programs and actively collaborate both in cutting-edge studies of genetic, lifestyle, and other environmental causes of cancer as well as in studies of cancer prevention, descriptive and clinical epidemiology. Statistical research is typically motivated by challenges encountered in DCEG studies, such as choosing an efficient study and sampling design, optimally combining data from multiple sources such as electronic medical records, genetic data bases, disease and bio-specimen registries, as well as designing validation studies and methods to evaluate and correct for measurement error in exposures and disease outcomes. The branch has active methodological research programs in areas that include i) absolute risk prediction, ii) cancer screening, iii) the analysis of longitudinal and survival data, iv) survey sampling methodology, v) cancer genetics, and vi) the analysis of “omics” data that includes the analysis of data from cutting edge next generation sequencing.

Position Title: Postdoctoral Fellowships in Biostatistic (statistical genetics & genomics focus)

Duties and Responsibilities: The Biostatistics Branch is seeking multiple Postdoctoral Fellows to work on areas of statistical genetics and genomics. Candidates will have the opportunity to work on the development of new statistical and bioinformatic procedures for analyzing high-dimensional genomic data, and playing major roles in DCEG state-of-the-art cancer genetics and tumor genomics projects.

Position Qualifications: Strong candidates from statistics, biostatistics, or bioinformatics doctoral programs who are eligible to work in the US are encouraged to apply (US citizenship is not a requirement). Preference will be given to candidates interested in applied problems, and with superior communication skills.

Salary Range: The stipend is commensurate with training and relevant research experience.
