ABSTRACT In the last few years R has emerged as a preferred data processing solution due to efforts from both industry and academia. Soon, R will be the de facto standard for data processing. In this talk I will discuss the usefulness of R as a data processing system, give broad perspectives on efforts across the board to deal with large data and discuss my own effort centered around rglade, an R package that allows R to "talk" to GLADE, a large data processing system I'm developing at UF. The talk should be of interest to any user of R that is concerned about performance or anybody with large data to process. I will show R in action on processing 1-10TB datasets as part of the talk to convince you that such large data can be dealt with
